This has been a question that has been surfacing since Berlin fell in April of 1945. If you remember history classes from school, you have likely seen the image of the badly burned body of Adolf Hitler in a pit behind the Fuhrerbunker, apparently ignited by Joseph Goebbels and Martin Bormann. Here is what history tells us leading up to the death of Adolf Hitler and his new wife, Eva Braun (Hitler):
April 28th, 1945 - While in the Fuhrerbunker underneath the Reich Chancellery in Berlin, Hitler had gotten word about the head of the SS, Heinrich Himmler, and how Himmler had apparently sought audience with the Allied forces regarding a surrender of Germany. Of course, Hitler was enraged at this due to having always trusted the "loyal" Henrich Himmler. Hitler likely felt very betrayed by this turn of events.
At around midnight on April 28th, 1945, Adolf Hitler and Eva Braun decided after years of being in a relationship, to finally tie the knot. They were married in the Fuhrerbunker in Hitler's private sitting room.
Later that night, Hitler had one of his secretaries, Traudi Junge dictate his last political statement, which of course had the rantings of the well-known Hitler speeches. He finished with this task at around 4am on April 29th, 1945.
April 29th, 1945 - After completing his last political statement with Traudi Junge, Hitler ordered some of the cyanide capsules he planned to ingest to be tested on his dog, Blondi. The test was a success and in the gardens outside the Reich Chancellery, Blondi and her puppies were killed.
Later that night, Hitler was told by Field Marshall Keitel that the Russians were closing in on Berlin and there were no more troops available to reinforce against the imminent invasion. There is speculation that Hitler and Braun had decided on suicide before this report from Keitel, but this event likely sped up the timetable on the imminent departure of one of the evilest men in history.
April 30th, 1945 - Hitler informed staff that after he and Eva were dead, that their bodies were to be burned. Sometime in the afternoon, Hitler and Eva went behind closed doors, took the cyanide capsules, and Hitler then shot himself. Afterwards, Joseph Goebbels and Martin Bormann dumped petrol on the bodies and set them ablaze.
Still, almost immediately, there were rumors (first started by the Russians) that Hitler wasn't in fact deceased. This has been an argument that has gone back and forth for many years, and there are still those that speculate that Hitler faked his own death and left the country to die a free man.
In my research I came across a theory that I had never heard before and it was quite intriguing. As a disclaimer to any of my readers, I do not posit that I agree or disagree with any of the theories and I do not wish to have these writings as a means of swaying opinion one way or another. I simply am fascinated by the mysteries and wish to share them in my own narrative. Without further ado, here is the unexplained mystery of Father Krespi and Hitler.
Father Krespi
In more recent history there has been a new addition to the conspiracy that Hitler escaped and that is in the form of Hitler reaching South America and changing his identity to that of one Father Krespi. Father Krespi died in 1982 at the age of 90 and some strange things followed his death.
According to reports, Father Krespi had over 2,000 people in attendance at his funeral and was buried in a marble white sepulcher that seems to have a fairly high reverence and is treated as such. The sepulcher is regularly cleaned and there are always decorations of white flowers on the grave which have been donated anonymously.

So, who is this Father Krespi and where did he come from? History tells us that Father Krespi stated that his was of Italian/Austrian decent and that he was studying in the Vatican in 1943. Through is time in the Vatican he had achieved some status and was eventually named the Curator of Art for the Vatican Archives. According to records, this was the first time someone of Krespi's station was handed such a high honor and position.
In his time as the Curator of Art he came into contact with billions of dollars' worth of priceless art. Further speculation is that he would have had the capacity to receive secret caches of priceless art without many knowing about it. After several years in this capacity, he decided in 1956 to retire from the Curator of Art position and took a calling as a priest in Cuenca, Ecuador.
Cuenca was well known on the map by many Nazi hunters and was rumored to had been at one time, the place where the infamous Martin Bormann had hidden out. During his time in Cuenca, Father Krespi mostly kept to himself and was mainly only seen by the general public while engaged in his priestly duties. Some residents reported that many German tourists would come calling to his home frequently.
According to reports, after Father Krespi died in 1982, it was discovered that he had a priceless art collection estimated in the multi-million-dollar range. After the discovery, local Germans had inspected the art collection and had the consensus that this was actually the collection of one, Adolf Hitler.
The rumor was given some weight as it was rumored that Hitler had quite an extensive collection and the allies never found it. Even more mysterious is that not long after the art was discovered the recently deceased Father Krespi's home, it was loaded out quickly and shipped to an undisclosed location that remains secret to this day. At this time, the city's population of European men rose and many of them had armed security guards in tow. This was strange even to the locals of the town due to the number increase.

To add further to the speculation that Father Krespi could have been Hitler, there was a report made by Wendell Stephens who is a retired US Army Colonel. He stated that he had met with Father Krespi in 1981 and was convinced that Father Krespi and Adolf Hitler were one in the same man. His reports never went any further and the idea was shut down by his superiors.
So, what do you think? Is there any possibility that Hitler escaped from Berlin and lived to a ripe old age as a meek Catholic priest, or did he in fact die in the bunker with is wife Eva Braun on April 3th, 1945? Is it that easy, or is this another one of the unsolved History's Mysteries?
