HOMETOWN MYSTERIES (PART III OF IV - HEART MOUNTAIN'S DARK HISTORY)

In my last couple of posts, I have talked about beautiful parts of my hometown of Cody, Wyoming. The beautiful things in my hometown are too many to mention, which I am so thankful for. History is full of amazing places with amazing things wherever we go.

History also has its dark times as well. These dark times don’t necessarily have to define a person or place, but it is something that helps to make them. Cody, Wyoming isn’t immune to some of the sadder chapters of history, and it would be foolish for me to sugarcoat all of the history of Cody, Wyoming, as those who do not study history, are generally doomed to repeat it.

World War II was a chapter in history that changed many facets of the world as we knew it, and has shaped it into what we now know in 2017.

HOMETOWN MYSTERIES (PART II OF IV - "SPIRIT MOUNTAIN")

There is nothing quite like unparalleled beauty. Too often in today's world, we have a hard time stopping to notice and appreciate the beauty that's all around us all the time. I guess that is the price we pay, especially as adults for busy lives spent trying to take care of our families and attempting to make our mark on the world.

HOMETOWN MYSTERIES (PART I OF IV - IRMA HOTEL)

There are times when all of us, no matter where we are, look back to where we came from. For the majority of people, it is hopefully filled with happy memories that are held dear, of childhood homes and growing up, learning how to be an adult. I think that it is important to look back into one’s own history to at the very least reminisce, and hopefully to be able to pull some guidance to help when life throws its curve-balls.

PERCEPTION IS EVERYTHING

History often has a way of calling into question the character of certain famous and powerful people. This is a phenomenon that continues to this day. This is where stereotypes are often born and perpetuated by the masses. These perceptions can often be misleading and can do harm to people's reputations. It is even worse when the person whose character is called into question is no longer around to defend themselves or attempt to create a different perception for all to see.

*UPCOMING PODCASTS*

For those of you who like to listen to narrative podcasts, my first episode is not too far out. I am diligently working on getting this up and running so that there is another way to stay plugged-in to History's Mysteries!

You will notice new gadgets on the side, follow button, favorite and most read blogs, email subscription, etc. There is also a gadget for podcasts (but currently it is blank as I have not submitted one yet). You will also be able to access the podcasts direct through iTunes as well. Also, I have created a new email address called: thehistorysandmysteries@gmail.com. Feel free to email with ideas for topics you like me to address or feedback. You can also put comments at the bottom of each post once subscribed to the page and I welcome feedback (and praise of course!). Thank you all so much for the great response to my posts, it means a lot and please keep reading!

POTUS (PART III OF III - DAY OF INFAMY)

So far I have had a good response with my blog posts and I would like to thank you all for reading it. It is something fun that I have never made the time to do and I am passionate about history. I enjoy researching these mysteries and sharing them. Some of the mysteries are common and have been recycled over and over again for a long time, while others are a bit more obscure and they are fun to research.

POTUS (PART II OF III - THE LONG BLACK TRAIN)

Very rarely are there reports from famous or powerful people dealing with paranormal situations. This isn't to say that the paranormal doesn't happen to them as it does to many other people who aren't famous or powerful, but it wouldn't behoove them to say so for fear of reputation, and in the case of someone like a president, loss of trust from the people they serve.

There is one president where the paranormal surrounds them in the form of dreams that are possibly glimpses into what will happen to them. This president had a serious of odd events and premonitions that culminated in his death. I am referring to our 16th president, Abraham Lincoln.

POTUS (PART I OF III - SECOND SHOOTER???)

President's Day is right around the corner and I thought it would be a good idea to write a post about a mystery surrounding a president. I then thought "what the heck, I'll do a three-part post to lead into President's Day". There are many mysteries surrounding many presidents, but I have chosen for the first post one that has been a mystery and a topic of controversy for over fifty years, The Assassination of John F. Kennedy.

TO BE, OR NOT TO BE...

"To be, or not to be..." You don't have to be a fan of Shakespeare to know that this is one of his works. Even if you are a novice and don't particularly have the attention span to read Shakespeare, everyone knows some of the work that he created, i.e. Romeo & Juliet, Hamlet, and Macbeth.

We all had to learn about Shakespeare in school, maybe in multiple grades which as I remember was often accompanied by groans from my classmates. But, for over two centuries there has been a debate to whether Shakespeare actually penned the words for his works. It is a controversy that still exists today. Without further ado, let's look at some of these theories...

VALENTINE'S DAY MURDER

Given that it is Valentine's Day, I thought an unsolved mystery from Valentine's Day would be fun. I did some extensive research, and all the mysteries of Valentine's Day that I could find were either murders or disappearances. I decided to pick this certain murder because it has gone unsolved for so long and it is filled with some strange happenings.

DID HITLER ESCAPE???

This has been a question that has been surfacing since Berlin fell in April of 1945. If you remember history classes from school, you have likely seen the image of the badly burned body of Adolf Hitler in a pit behind the Fuhrerbunker, apparently ignited by Joseph Goebbels and Martin Bormann. Here is what history tells us leading up to the death of Adolf Hitler and his new wife, Eva Braun (Hitler):
